Section 12.1 of the USP <797> standards for safely preparing compounded sterile preparations (CSP) states that during visual inspection, those with observed defects - like visible particulate, foreign matter or discoloration – must be rejected, clearly marked and segregated from acceptable units to prevent them from being released and dispensed.

To help pharmacists comply with this requirement, EPS has developed a specially designed REJECTED label. With a striking, bright red image, this large label provides clear notification that a rejected CSP should not be dispensed. The plastic dispensing box and the aggressive, IV/blood product safe adhesive were carefully chosen to accommodate the requirements of the environment where this label will be used.

“Sterile compounding and dispensing have become ever more important in daily pharmacy practice. Strict attention to guidelines like USP <797> is essential,” notes Bob Braverman, President of Medi-Dose/EPS. “Our REJECTED label is one more way in which we are here to help pharmacists easily and economically comply with these crucial procedures.”
